Everyone listens to the market. We listened to the end-users. The men at work and conflating the technical and marketing experiences, we invented the Zephyr Rubber Hoses. They are almost as light as the ‘hybrid’ hoses, even lighter than some. They are around 40% lighter than the average rubber hoses on the market. The Side-Effects of being light :
To be frank, we didn’t plan these while developing Zephyr. But as it turns out, being light is good for more than just not-breaking one’s back.
1. Smaller Carbon-Footprint: As Zephyr containers cube-out and weigh-out at the same time (as opposed to regular rubber hose containers which get weighed-out much before they cube-out), Zephyr Hoses have a smaller carbon-footprint than regular rubber hoses.
2. Pay for the product, not the freight: For the reason mentioned above, the freight per unit goes substantially down. Also, the individual unit shipping cost goes down as the weight does. So you end up paying for the product and lesser for the freight.
Zephyr hoses remain genuinely (and not just for numbers’ sake like some of the hybrid hoses) usable in temperatures as low as -50F (or even lesser).
The results have shown that there is a difference as substantial as 30F In the flexibility of Zephyr and the most popular, vivid-colored hybrid hoses – that means, Zephyr hoses are as flexible at -30F as Hybrid ones are at 0F. Rubber experts would agree, the process which makes this lighter makes it much stronger. The abrasion resistance, the tear and cutting resistance and the pressure performance are amongst the best on the market, to be conservative. It easily exceeds (even doubly so in some parameters) RMA IP-2, the UL Air hose standard.
It has a 4:1 safety factor as well – something that most popular hybrid hoses don’t (which is a basic requirement of RMA IP-2).
Also, every single Zephyr hose is tested at 400PSI before it is dispatched from the manufacturing facility. Many other parameters (such as aging, tensile strength, burst pressure, elongation, weathering, flex-count etc.) are all tested with a strict sampling plan. And all of this affords us the confidence to offer a 10-year warranty to most Zephyr products.
In short, Zephyr is the rubber hose done right.
